I made these cool little pens specifically for the Atome 423/1423 nibs (They are the same size nib…one is the vintage nib, the other is the “modern” version).
These tiny nibs are excellent for hairline filigree work and tedious decorations of your versal letters (or other calligraphy that requires superfine line work). The hairlines that these nibs produce are excellent…they are much finer than any pencil could ever produce. They are fairly stiff and unflexible, which is nice for filigree work, as the hairlines are easier to control and devoid of “swells” unless you intentionally bear down on the nib. In short, these nibs make it easy to control the fine lines and allow you to pretty much eliminate line swells because they are only slightly flexible. But…
These nibs are small, so they do not work in a standard straight pen holder. They will wobble around and move as you try to write…they are too small to be held firmly in place, and that’s a problem when you are trying to execute such tedious work.
So, I decided to design my own penholder, just for these nibs. This pen holder is extremely stable with this nib, and will be a rock-solid mount; no worries at all about any lateral movement of the Atome nib in these holders!
This holder is made of solid Cherry wood…it is very light in weight, and I dyed it an attractive chocolate brown color. Super hardshell “CA” finish will hold up to your inks and gouaches. You will find a lot of uses for this pen…tiny spencerian script, “Business” writing…and of course filigrees and illumination decorations.
This pen will ship to you with a brand new Atome 1423 nib installed, so you can jump right into your awesome writing with it!
