“Seastorm Hybrid” Professional Handmade Oblique Calligraphy Pen

Another beautiful “hybrid” pen, this one is named “Seastorm”.  I named her “Seastorm” because the gorgeous resin swirls remind me of those aerial hurricane images that we see on the weather channel.  So here you have it, your own colorful weather event, built right into your custom calligraphy pen!  This pen blank is a custom hand-cast resin-and-wood pen.  the wood is a natural-edged box elder burl wood.  There are some natural “worm holes” in the wood, but those have been professionally filled and stabilized.  These are not considered defects, but are natural inclusions and artifacts that actually add to the beauty, character, and uniqueness of the wood.  This is a “hybrid” pen, which means that the resin is hand mixed, and poured onto a “live-edged” piece of exotic burl wood…this results in a jagged/random “joint line” where the resin fuses to the natural edge of the burl.  Pens made in this way are known as “hybrids” because they are part resin and part live-edged woods.  Hybrid pens are some of the most beautiful and most desireable handmade pens due to their beauty and their unique appearance.  Each is totally unique; a one-of-a kind pen that cannot be duplicated.  The natural-edged wood (along with it’s natural imperfections) is as unique as a fingerprint.  You will love the way this pen feels in the hand.  It fits like a glove, and is superbly balanced.  Writing with this pen is an absolute joy, and you will find yourself  “not wanting to put it down”.

This pen will easily and happily handle the rigors of the professional calligrapher. As with all of my handmade calligraphy pens, this one is coated with my super hardshell clear coat (12 coats on this pen). This finish is crystal clear, super hard, will never become sticky or gummy, and is almost impossible to stain. If ink or gouache dries on this finish, you can wipe it off with a damp rag, or for stubborn cases, you can literally scrape it off with your fingernail.
