A beautiful and unique straight pen holder…this is the “Dark Tortoise”…I made it from an awesome piece of acrylic resin, and I used Brazilian Ebony wood for the ornate “tail” or finial section.  Acrylic is probably the toughest and most durable of the resins…very durable and has awesome coloring!

Straight pen holders are so versatile!  Everyone should have a couple (at least) of straight pen holders!  They are great for BOTH STYLES… pointed-pen calligraphy and broad-edge calligraphy!  Go from writing copperplate script to Blackletter with only a nib change!  That’s pretty darned exciting!  And if you have never written a “copperplate script” with a straight pen, you should give it a try!  It works great, and it has a different “feel” than an oblique pen holder, yet still it is very very good at copperplate and other pointed pen styles!  If you ever want to do any Italic, Foundational, Blackletter, Batarde, Old English, Rotunda, etc….you will need a straight pen.  :-
